KEVIN JOHNSON

CHAIRMAN

Kevin Johnson is the Chairman of the Board for ecUtopia. He grew up in Northern California and attended San Diego State University where he earned a degree in Business Accounting.

He helped found ecUtopia in 2011 and as Chairman is responsible for sharing guidance and leadership with the company management team. He has helped set the tone to ensure that the company is delivering solutions that allow small and medium sized businesses to be more efficient and competitive. His direction helps keep the day to day activities of the company focused on being nimble, responsive and entrepreneurial.

Kevin’s early career includes retail operations at both the store and corporate level. He then moved to a software company focused on solutions for retailers and helped the company achieve significant growth organically and through acquisition. His next move was as President/CEO of a startup cloud hosting company creating a vision and direction on customer satisfaction with the focus on small and medium sized businesses.

Kevin is passionate about his family and enjoys traveling with them. They are in the process of visiting and seeing games at all of the Major League Baseball parks in the United States. He relaxes working on his classic pickup and spending time in his garden.

PHIL KENNEY

CEO and President of ecUtopia

Phillip Kenney is the CEO of ecUtopia. Phil brings a blend of experience in Retail, Technology and Executive Management, that gives him a great set of tools to execute the company’s core beliefs of being “easy to do business with” while executing a profitable growth strategy. Phil earned his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, having graduated from the University of California at San Diego.

Phil was brought to ecUtopia to spur the principles built within the company from day one. Be easy to do business with, driving depth and breadth of functionality to allow the small and medium business to thrive in this hyper competitive market. By focusing ecUtopia’s delivery on basic principles communication, soundness, and customer care, the company has been able to provide value to their customers and functionality to let them leap frog larger retailers that have larger budgets.

Phil’s career started at GERS Retail Systems where he held many roles from Manager of Development, all the way to General Manager of a business unit delivering solutions to the Big Ticket retail market. He left GERS to join the retail world and started with Hot Topic, holding the roles of Director of Internet Technology and then Vice President of Information Systems. Phil held a similar role at Wet Seal and then moved into retail operations and spurring a high growth retailer, Jerome’s Furniture, as Chief Operating Officer. Phil joined ecUtopia in 2016 to drive the focus on being nimble, being customer focused, and growing the business.

RONALD B. SELLERS

CO-FOUNDER / CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER

Ron Co-Founded ecUtopia in 2011, with almost 25 years of selling technology solutions. He recognized earlier in his career the need to help small to mid-size companies manage their supply chain. Ron is responsible for business development, adding trading partners onto the ecUtopia exchange platform.as well as marketing for ecUtopia. Ron is on the Board of ecUtopia and provides direction for both short and long-term direction of the company.

Ron’s professional career started with Shearson Lehman Brothers, at the time they were the 4th largest investment bank in the United States. In 1994 he made a conscious decision to move into technology and started his career with GERS Retail Systems as a Regional Sales Manager he was promoted to Vice President of Sales. At its peak, GERS Retail Systems was the largest provider of ERP Software and services in the Home Furnishing Industry. Nearly one third of the Top 100 Home Furnishings retailers were utilizing GERS for their technology and ERP needs. He later co-founder FurnishNet one of the first EDI companies to focus on the Home Furnishings industry.

Ron currently sits on the Home Furnishings Association (HFA) Technology Committee as well as the Executive Advisory Council for WithIt

Ron and his wife enjoy traveling, they spend as much time as they can visiting their two daughters both living in New York City. Ron’s newest passion is a 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide

ERIC WENSLEY

CO-FOUNDER / CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER

Eric Wensley leads the development and technical team at ecUtopia as Chief Technical Officer, and is responsible for driving trading partner integration, application development and support. A seasoned veteran with nearly 25 years of hands-on experience in all facets of eCommerce, Eric has vast knowledge of supply chain and business operations and a keen ability to think outside the box to create efficiencies and new best practices for his customers and the supply chain world as a whole.

Eric was an early pioneer of cloud and Saas-based computing as one of the first to tackle modern multi-tenant data exchange and has been a major contributor to the paperless revolution. Prior to co-founding ecUtopia, Eric was CEO and founder of HFXchange, a leading supply chain data clearinghouse which was later acquired by JDA Software.

He got his start working as an epidemiologist for the Department of Public Health, leading a pilot project that allowed Massachusetts to become one of the first states to submit health data and statistics electronically to the CDC. Eric holds a Bachelor degree in Public Health Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
